Music Monday: HOMECOMING

Between the competitive marching bands and Divine Nine Greek step shows, a HBCU homecoming is the place to be! Every year, I get a chance to catch up with some of my college buddies for a weekend of fun! It’s the one time out of the year when I can feel like an undergrad again. So, in honor of this special occasion, I decided to put this little playlist together. It’s all the dirty south jams you would expect to hear at your favorite HBCU homecoming. So, when you get a chance, check out the full playlist below:

  1. “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi B
  2. “Wipe Me Down,” Boosie Badazz, Webbie, Fox
  3. “Before I Let Go,” Maze, Frankie Beverly
  4. “Dreams and Nightmares,” Meek Mill
  5. “Swag Surfin’,” F.L.Y.
  6. “Knuck if You Buck (Feat. Lil’ Scrappy),” Crime Mob, Lil Scrappy

#WIWT Faux Moto Jacket

What I’m Wearing
Moto Jacket | Shirt | T-Shirt | Jeans | Boots

With grunge coming back in style this season, it’s safe to say that I have mastered the whole leather jacket trend from head to toe. Today, I decided to keep it simple with this faux moto jacket and floral shirt pairing. The black on black trend is usually reserved for the cooler months. When you add a floral print to mix, it breaks up that darkness a bit. In addition, the floral shirt serves as the perfect layering accessory under a jacket, and over a solid color t-shirt.  For a little contrast, I carried out my grungy look with a pair of distressed denim jeans. These jeans look great with the right suede boots. Check out the ones I picked up from ASOS. Dope, right? So, how do you feel about this particular look? Feel free to share in the comments section below.

#WIWT Alternative Business Casual

What I’m Wearing
Denim Jacket | Sweater | Jeans | Sneakers

Everyday, I challenge myself to think outside the box when it comes to work attire. So much so that I have dedicated an entire section in my closet to alternative business clothing. Who does that?! You know I’m a little eccentric at times. Nevertheless, I decided to show of one of my favorite business causal ensembles, shown above. I almost always wear my sweaters, dress shirts, and ties layered under a denim jacket. It beats wearing a thick, wool coat. For a little contrast, I further styled my look with a pair of purple, denim pants from H&M. To be honest, these pants don’t get much play on the regular. Why? It’s quite unusual to get away with a pair of purple pants to begin with, let alone as work attire. So, how do you feel about this particular look? Feel free to share in the comments section below.

Events: Sea Monsters HERE

Surprise! We are less than two weeks away from Halloween, and a purple sea monster taken over Building 611  at Philadelphia’s Navy Yard. Creepy, right?! On Monday, October 8th, this huge inflatable structure was unveiled to the public, to a full crowd of eager spectators. Twenty, forty foot long, purple tentacles were created and installed by a well-known UK street art duo, Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas, who were commissioned by Group X. As shown above, each tentacle is bursting out of windows, while “squirming” in the wind. I had an opportunity to check out the structure yesterday, and I have to say, it was truly amazing. Since I love everything monster related, this was a big deal for me. If you live in the Philly area, be sure to check out #navyyardseamonster at Flagship Avenue and 13th Street before the creature heads back into the water on November 16th.

Have Fun,
