How to wear thrifted pieces for under $20

What I’m Wearing
Suit | Turtleneck | Boots

One of the best investments you can make is purchasing a two piece suit. As shown above, I found this entire outfit at the Goodwill for $20 (Not including the boots. They’re from ASOS). Yes, $20! Most of their men’s suit apparel is $20, with suit jackets priced anywhere from $6 to $10. I didn’t have a enough time to go to the tailor, so I used a belt to add a little shape to the double breasted suit jacket. So, how do you feel about this particular look? Even if you’re a fan of bold bright colors, there’s something to be said about an all black fit. Perfect for a stroll outside, you can always dress down your entire look with a pair of sneakers. They compliment long coats quite well. So, how do you feel about this particular look? Feel free and share in the comments section below.

Review – You Go Natural (YGN) Open Shirt Turban

December 21, 2021

Question of the day: do you like wearing headwraps? If so, this post is for you!

Today, I’m honored to announce my recent collaboration with You Go Natural, aka YGN. Haven’t heard of them? No problem! I’m here to catch you up to speed.

With the tagline, “Protective styling made easy,” YGN is a  black owned business that specializes in protecting natural hairstyles with high quality, pre-tied head coverings (For both women and men). Best of all: Their products are really great for people with waves, locs, kinks, and curls (People of African decent).

So, before we get too carried away, lets check out the full review below:

Product

Since I have all this hair, its been a task to keep my fro protected, especially during bedtime. I’m known to toss and turn throughout the evening, causing many split ends. In the past, I’ve tried satin pillow cases, bonnets, and other hair accessories with little to no luck. Luckily, the team over at YGN gifted me one of their best sellers, the cognac open t-shirt turban to try out!

Packaging

Words can’t describe how excited I was to receive this package. Why? For one, I feel honored that YGN even collaborated with me in the first place. Mo and I accidently discovered their website a few months ago (We were shopping around for some new bedtime head coverings). Of course, we were super impressed. Plus, I appreciate all the colors, neutrals and skintones included (Those are had to come by these days).

Before the package arrived, I had little to no expectations. I envisioned the usual packaging situation from other companies (No shade), a shipping bag with a turban balled up inside. Luckily, YGN exceeded my expectations! The turban arrived in clear bag within the mailing package, with the YGN logo printed across the front. The bag itself was very easy to open, making the turban completely accessible (No wrapping paper, packaging air bags, or styrofoam found here).

Value

YGN is selling this particular turban for $35. That’s not a bad price considering the turban is pre-tied, which is a great selling point for their products.

Product

As mentioned above, YGN’s headwraps and turbans are pre-tied. They’re perfect, especially if you haven’t learned how to wrap a turban yet. It’s elastic design makes it easy to fit any head shape, including mine (Remember, I have a big head, and a lot of hair). Plus, it didn’t pull out any of my hair, which is usually a major concern.

The Good: Loved the style including the color and material. Easy to wrap around head. Looks great when hair is worn up (Pineapple hairstyle preferred)
The Bad: Nothing at all!

Overall

I give this product a 5 out 5. This was my first pre-tied turban, and I love it! The packaging was very chic, and easy to open. Plus, the turban is easy to wear. It takes no time to slip it on, and go to sleep. I can’t wait to make a few more purchases.

What I’m Wearing
Leather Jacket | Turtleneck | Pants | Sneakers

Not only are leather jackets super stylish, they’re very appropriate for the fall season. Consider pairing yours with a contrasting, white sweater or turtleneck with a pair of dress pants, as shown above. All these colors are similar, but have different textures.
