#WIWT Dickies Harbor Gray Shorts

What I’m Wearing
Shorts | T-Shirt | Sneakers

Since I’ve cycled through shades of pink, blue, and yellow this season, it’s time to wear all your favorite whites before Labor Day! Recently, I received an opportunity to work with Dickies during their harbor gray work shorts campaign. The catch? I was instructed to style these shorts with some of my favorite colors. Since these shorts are super long, skater apparel will do the trick. It was super easy to pair these shorts with a heavyweight t-shirt and checkered book bag, all from Dickies. All that white looks great with the shorts! Thanks Dickies for an amazing opportunity.

With love,

#WIWT Denim Overalls

What I’m Wearing
Denim Overalls | Shirt | Sneakers

Hey everyone! So, I need to get something off my chest. This is my first pair of denim overalls in like four years. I know, it’s been FOREVER, but quality overalls are very hard to come by these days. If you are feeling a little skeptical, look no further. You too can also hop on this trend. Today, I decided to keep it simple in my Simpson inspired graphic tee from H&M and ASOS denim overalls. The yellow and navy make a nice contrast, especially with all those trucks in the background. So much so that I’ve been rocking these two colors together for quite some time now. How do you feel about this particular look? Feel free to share in the comments section below.

Sincerely,

Guess what? It’s my 32nd Birthday! Yikes! 32?! I know, 32 is not one of those Instagram worthy milestone years like 25, 30, or 35, but it’s still a celebration. Why? Listen, I’m just happy to be here another year. So, we can just celebrate that one, okay 🙂 .

Since I’m all about little themes these days, I am going to share 32 fun facts about myself. A little cliché, I know, but I’m working on my authenticity and vulnerability these days. So, here goes nothing:

  1. I share the same home town name as my mother, Lumberton
  2. All of my siblings have the number 11, in our birthday date, August 11th, October 11th, and November 25th (The 11th month). Weird!
  3. I was born with twelve fingers (Where can I enroll in the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning)
  4. I’ve only lived in two states, New Jersey and North Carolina
  5. My favorite color is yellow
  6. I absolutely hate being late (Does anyone else have anxiety here?)

  9. Four is my all time favorite number
  10. I have yet to learn how to play an instrument
  11. Big Brother is my favorite show of all-time (You knew that already 🙂 )

  13. I have two birth marks (One on my arm and the other is on my ankle)
  14. I’ve worked as a college professor for eight years
  15. I LOVE listening to music and reading self help books every day
  16. I run at least one half marathon every spring
  17. My favorite video game is the Sims 2, with all the expansion packs
  18. At eight years old, I learned how to swim
  19. I ran my first and last marathon in November of 2014
  20. Chuck Taylors and Vans are my favorite sneakers (Obviously 🙂 )
  21. I can draw really well
  22. I’m actually not into mainstream fashion. I prefer nostalgic trends
  23. My height is around 5’8, depending on how large or small the fro happens to be that day (Shrinkage is real)
  24. Up until the age of ten, I was a sleep walker
  25. I still watch cartoons like a child
  26. If I could live in another country, I would move to England
  27. I haven’t eaten meat in over two years (Proud pescatarian)
  28. For photography, I always shoot in the shade (It never fails)
  29. I still wear my retainer every night (Sorry Mo 🙂 )
  30. My favorite meal is breakfast
  31. I have no tattoos or piercings, but I was branded in college (Fraternity life)
  32. Senior year of high school, I got stuck on an amusement park ride

Events: Rosé Brunch

August 10, 2019

Hey everyone! I know the content has been dragging lately, but my life has been all over the place. New job, new gigs, and so much more. All that being said, I was able to put some time to the side and host a Rosé Brunch for my Birthday! I’m known for a great birthday bash.

The Concept

My birthday parties have always incorporated some type of theme. Up until this point, I have thrown garden, costume, and yellow parties (Yes, once upon a time, I hosted a yellow themed party in my backyard. It was amazing to say the least). This year, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and go with something a little different, the Rosé Brunch! Rosé? Yes, Rosé! Have you been hiding under a rock all summer, Rosé is everywhere! Since this trend has been in full effect since 2018, I thought it was more than appropriate to take this fad into foreign territory with the first annual Rosé Brunch.

The Crew

In contrast to previous years, I decided to shorten my birthday guest list significantly. I haven’t spoken to you in six months, you are not making the cut. Sorry! My goal this year has been to redirecting my energy towards the consistency, positivity, and intimacy. So, if you have yet to contribute in those ways, you were not invited. Nothing personal! The finalized roster included at least twenty-five guests. Luckily, most showed up at different times.

What We Wore

Similar to the overall theme, the attire include Rosé inspired colors. Confused? Anything with pink, gold, or white were sufficient enough. Solids, stripes, or prints were also welcomed. Since most of us were getting in the pool, bathing suits were more than welcome J

What We Ate

Initially, the plan was to cater all my food. Due to budget constraints, I changed my mind and went with something more practical, cooking all the food myself. The menu can be found below:

French Toast
Veggie and Egg Quiche
Waffles
Turkey Bacon and Sausage
Pork Bacon and Sausage
Rosé Mimosas

The french toast and quiche went fast! I thought using thick Challah bread would fill everyone up. Unfortunately, it was too good for just one serving. Luckily, I made some extra pans.

The Brunch Itself

Until sunset, we spent the day relaxing poolside, eating brunch, listening to music, and drinking mimosas. Since everyone was still hanging around, we decided to put some food on the grill, order a few pizzas, and kept the party going.

If you plan on hosting an event in the next few weeks, a Rosé themed brunch is the best way to go!
