Music Monday

I’m heading down to Elizabeth City, North Carolina for my alma mater’s homecoming. Food, burger, and beer sounds like the usual for Homecoming “partakings.” Let’s not forget about music though! I’m ready to hear all my favorite songs from college. Artists like Kanye West, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Beyonce were on the rise on the Billboard Charts. In honor of  my 2005-2009 collegiate era, I put this little playlist together. I’m definitely going to be jamming out to this playlist the entire trip down.

Coat: ASOS |Waistcoat: Ralph Lauren | Shirt: Ralph Lauren | Jeans: Hot Topic | Loafers: DSW

Look familiar? For this post, I decided to update an old outfit from UnregisteredStyle.com with a full length, duster coat. Purchased from ASOS for $30, this royal blue coat looks great dressed down or “dappered” up. As you can see, I took the dapper route with the waistcoat, gingham button-up, knit tie, and penny loafers. Rather than throwing on a pair of chinos, I kept it casual with these skinny jeans from Hot Topic. I hope you enjoyed this look!

Until next time,

Grooming: Morning Routine

Getting the morning started can be a little difficult, especially if you don’t have a consistent routine in place. Routine? Yes, routine! If you are a little confused, check out the first part of my morning routine below:

Wake-Up!

Even with eight hours of sleep, waking up is pretty exhausting. If you are a heavy sleeper like myself, you may need to set three alarms in the morning. Three alarms? Yes, three alarms! Also, I would suggest keeping your alarm on the opposite side of your bedroom. Why? I can only speak for myself, but I have a tendency to hit the snooze button every now in the down. Charging the phone across the room helps me get up at the sound of the first alarm. Think about it! Before I can hit the snooze button, my body is already up and wired.

Please Don’t Stop the Music

As you already know, music is essential to my soul. So, it’s no surprise that I have a “Getting Ready” and “Good Morning” playlist to start off the day. Being the relaxed person that I am, I have a soft spot for anything Sza, John Legend, Elle Varner, Kid Cudi, and even Kanye West in the wee hours of the morning.

So Fresh & So Clean

Shower time! Before stepping in the tub, make sure you have a loofah and soap bar in hand. Not only is stepping in the shower without your toiletries a waste of time, but it leaves a mess everywhere. Drying off when you forget a bar of soup never happens. If this is a consistent problem, maybe you should invest in an adjustable or double tier shower caddy.

Remember, this is only part one of my morning routine. Be sure to check back for Part Two in the upcoming weeks.

Jeans: Salvation Army | Cardigan: ASOS | Shirt: GAP| Boots: DSW

Secondhand stores are like gold mines for everything denim, including jeans. You can get every wash, fit, and style for a quarter of the price. You can’t beat that, right? if you don’t believe me, take a look at today’s featured outfit, as shown above. As you can see, I decided to step out in this all gray ensemble. The jeans, at a quick glance, look very a tad worn, in a good way. That’s because they were purchased from the Salvation Army for $4. You can’t beat that right? The remaining pieces were purchased on clearance from other retail stores including H&M, GAP, and DSW Shoe Warehouse. I hope you enjoyed this post. Check back for more updates this week!
