Music Monday: High School Jams

April 23, 2018

As I was cleaning my room last week, I stumbled across my old high school yearbook. I can’t believe I graduated [An undisclosed number] years ago already. Needless to say, I had a few great experiences during the most innocent years of my life. Cut to the chase: it’s always fun to reminisce and reflect on all the good music back then. I remember when my old Walkman and cd carrier case were like gold. I couldn’t go anywhere without them. Since I’m bringing up old music, I decided to create a playlist in honor of my teenage years. Hopefully, you don’t guess my age. Check out the playlist below:

  1. “Flipside,” Freeway
  2. “All I Have,” Jennifer Lopez
  3. “Slow Jamz,” Twista
  4. “4Ever,” Lil Mo
  5. “Ryde or Die, Bitch,” The Lox
  6. “Leave Get Out,” JoJo
  7. “Solider,” Destiny’s Child
  8. “Why Don’t We Fall in Love,” Amerie
  9. “Full Moon,” Brandy
  10. “Change Clothes,” Jay-Z

Remember that time new music came out on Tuesdays? Nowadays, the most highly anticipated singles and albums drop on random days of the week, with little to no promotion. This month alone, artists like Drake and Cardi B dropped amazing tracks randomly. That being said, I decided to create this little playlist to showcase some of the best hip-hop and r&b tracks of the season. Check out the playlist below:

  1. “Nice for What,” Drake
  2. “JAPAN’,” Famous Dex
  3. “Plug Walk,” Rich the Kid
  4. “Powerglide (feat. Juicy J),” Tory Lanez
  5. “Bickenhead,” Cardi B
  6. “I Sip,” Tory Lanez
  7. “All the Stars (with Sza),” Kendrick Lamar, SZA
  8. “Goat 2.0 (feat. Wale),” Eric Bellinger
  9. “Know Myself,” Justine Skye, Vory
  10. “Hurt to Look (feat. Rae Sremmurd),” Swae Lee

Music Monday: Spring Fever

March 26, 2018

Yay! Spring is finally here! Although it’s only thirty degrees outside, we can still hope for a warmer April in the next few weeks to come. That being said, I decided to kick off the season with this very Spring appropriate playlist. All these songs have titles that are associated with precipitation, sunshine, and of course, flowers. Don’t get it twisted though, most of these lyrics do not accurately reflect their corresponding titles. Still interested? If so, check out the playlist below:

  1. “Rain,” SWV
  2. “Rainy Dayz’,” Mary J. Blige
  3. “Rain On Me,” Ashanti
  4. “Rain,” Tory Lanez
  5. “Droptop in the Rain,” Ty Dolla $ign
  6. “Flowers,” Bosco
  7. “Lotus Flower Bomb,” Wale
  8. “Perfect Flower,” Rich Homie Quan
  9. “Sunshine,” Lupe Fiasco
  10. “Sunshine,” KYLE

Enjoy,
