Lifestyle: Holiday Gift Guide for Him

December 12, 2019

Tis the season for all your holiday shopping! As we approach December 25th, I’m pretty sure that we all have a few gifts to buy. If you’re wondering what  to get for that special man in your life, look no further! Today, I put together this little holiday gift guide for 2019. Here are some of my best ideas:

Cologne: If you have a few extra dollars to spare, treat him to a new fragrance for the holiday. If you don’t know where to start, try retail stores like Nordstrom and Macys. They have some of the best colognes around.

Airpods: If I’m not mistaken, Apple dropped their cordless airPods nearly three years ago, and the consumers went crazy! Unfortunately, I’m still walking around with my basic earPods. So, if your favorite gentleman hasn’t jumped on the air pod bandwagon, help him out and get him a pair.

Alarm Clock: Yes, I am well aware that every iPhone comes fully equipped with an alarm clock app. If your home boy is anything like me, I like to keep things old school with an actual alarm clock by my side.

Blender: Who doesn’t love a nice fruity smoothie? I sure do! Make sure to order him a blender to bring in the New Year. You can’t go wrong with the ninja bullet. It’s my personal favorite.

Wireless Charging Pad: Why charge your phone from the cord when you can get all the juice from the pad? I’m pretty sure he will appreciate a wireless charging pad for the office, bedroom, and even the car. I’m not sure about the last one, but it sounds fun.

Puffer Jacket: Based on last weeks post found here, you can tell that I have a soft spot for the puffer jacket this go round. So, make sure he gets one before those harsh winds hit. A harsh winter is ahead in the forecast.

Luggage: Packing for any vacation can be anything less than exciting, especially if you are limited in traveling size. Every man should have at least one large suitcase in his arsenal, and it doesn’t hurt to buy a new one every once in a while.

Jukebox: Yet again, another cordless option. The iPhone compatible jukebox is a nostalgic goldmine. It’s the perfect gift for any young man that wants to jam out in style.

Boots: Keeping your toes warm during the winter requires one major requirement, boots, of course! Invest in a pair, and your money will go a long way. I’ve had the same pair of combat boots for eight years, and they’re still holding up. This year, I’m looking for some Doc Martens under the Christmas tree.

Classic Console: Get ready to dust off all those old video games. Some of our favorite gaming systems like the original PlayStation are returning store shelves this winter. It’s going to be like the Christmas of 95 all over again!

You can’t go wrong with any of these gifts for him!

What I’m Wearing
Puffer Jacket | T-Shirt | Pants | Sneakers

Nothing gets me in the spirit like holiday shopping. With only seventeen days away, I still have so many gifts to buy! For the next couple of weekends, you can catch me in the mall checking out all the sales. Look, I’m trying to get the most bang for my buck here. Since I’m out and making all these thrifty purchases, I might as well look the part. Today, I decided to step out in my newly purchased, fire engine red puffer jacket from ASOS. It’s very similar to last years white puffer/parka jacket, found here. I guess you can say I laid the groundwork for a new tradition. Puffer jacket galore! Don’t forget, it’s all about being comfortable while shopping. So, my graphic t-shirt and pinstripe pants came handy! When do you plan to get your holiday shopping done? Tips & Tricks: DIY Christmas Lights Portrait Photography

December 4, 2019

Filed Under : This & That - Tips & Tricks

It’s less than a week after Thanksgiving, and of course, I’m coming down with a little cold 🙁 (Someone must have sneezed on the potato salad). I guess you can’t guess what that means? Less fashion content, but more creative freedom (This will definitely last an entire day)!

While resting, I decided to get in the holiday spirit with this self-timer, portrait photoshoot.

The Concept

Think Stranger Things, but without the obnoxious colorful lights. I’m doubting Will’s ability to send us any cryptic messages from the Upside Down at this point.

What you need

The supplies are very simple. You only need Christmas Lights, scotch tape, and a chair. Of course, I had everything lying around the house, except for the red cellophane paper.

Oh, and lets not forget the camera equipment. I shot with my Canon Rebel T6i DSLR and a Canon 50mm f/1.4L lens, sunpak ultra 7000 tripod, diva ringlight, and canon wireless remote controller.

The Process

I secured the camera on the tripod, and placed it about four feet away from my area of interest. Since I’m using a prime lens, I want to be focused directly on the couch. So, this distance is perfect.

Once the camera was stationed, I set up the ring light to the left of my “stage.” Then, I wrapped and taped the red cellophane paper around the light, creating a more intimate scene.

While standing on a chair, I hung and draped the Christmas lights directly in front of the camera. The lower portion of the cord was placed near the couch.

The Result

Once the camera was turned on, I was ready to shoot. While holding the lights in one hand with the remote in the other, I sat on the couch and began posing. The red ambiance produced by the light source created a nice shadow effect on the other side of my face. The Christmas lights themselves were very fairy like, which different sized glares throughout each shot. Overall, I love how the photos came out! I need to get sick more often (Knocks on wood).

Thanks,
